Resources for Educators

Native American Heritage Month

Washington state now requires all K-12 schools to teach a new curriculum called Since Time Immemorial: Tribal Sovereignty in Washington State. The Yakama Nation has been an active participant in the development of the curriculum, which educators will use as they teach students about Native history, culture, language and government.

Here, educators will find additional tools and resources developed by Yakama Nation Fisheries that can be used to help shape curriculum further or enhance classroom lessons, especially around the importance of fish as it relates to tribal history, culture and economics today.
