The Group 8 Steelhead run size has been downgraded to 10,700 and the allowed treaty harvest rate is 13%, which calculates to a catch guideline of 1 ,391 . The treaty catch estimate for Group B steelhead is 1,438, which exceeds the allowed limit. Therefore, the Fish and Wildlife/Law and Order Committee close the platform/h&l fishery of the Columbia River at 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Fish caught legally before the closing date and time are still allowed for sale after the closing date and time.
The platform/h&l fishery will reopen for ceremonial and subsistence purposes no later than 6 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2013, according to the regulations in T-56-13. This closure DOES NOT affect Yakama Nation tributary fisheries other than Drane Lake, which will not be allowable due to exceeding the Group B steelhead limit. Regulations are pursuant to Title 32.14 of the Revised law & Order Code of the Yakama Nation. Authority to enforce these regulations is provided under Section 32. 18.07 of the Code. Violations of any of these regulations are punishable under Section 32.18.07 of the Code.
