The Columbia River Summer Chinook return to the mouth of the Columbia River has been downgraded to a total run of 57,000 adults. Platform/H&L catches have exceeded projections to the point where there is risk of exceeding the Treaty Catch Guideline before the end of the summer management period. Therefore, the Fish & Wildlife Committee hereby CLOSES the summer gillnet Season in all of Zone 6 of the Columbia River effective on the regular scheduled closing date 6pm Thursday July 6, 2023 and the Fish & Wildlife Committee hereby CLOSES commercial sale for the Platform/H&L fishery in the Columbia River from 6pm Saturday July 8 through 6am Tuesday August 1, 2023. Subsistence Platform/H&L fishing remains open.
