Yakama Nation Harvest Management

Under the Treaty of 1855, the Yakama Nation reserved the right to fish, hunt and gather and other rights at all usual and accustomed places. This includes the preservation of fish habitat at all usual and accustomed fishing places. 

The Yakama Nation manages fisheries resources to ensure continued access by Yakama members to fulfill their ceremonial, subsistence and commercial needs.  This treaty reserved right includes the right to have fish present to harvest, at all usual and accustomed places.

Harvest News

The harvest guideline in the Bonneville Pool is expected to be acheived early.  Therefore the 
Fish & Wildlife Committee hereby closes the Winter gillnet fishery in the Bonneville Pool
The Fish & Wildlife Committee approves the commercial winter gillnet fishery
for the Bonneville Pool opening 6am Thursday Feb 27 through 6pm Saturday
The Fish & Wildlife Committee reopens the winter gillnet fishery in the John Day Pool
from 6am Thursday Feb 20 - 6pm Monday Feb 24, 2020.  All other winter gillnet regs
stay the same.  See attached.
After reviewing the harvest data, there is harvestable quota available in the 
John Day Pool.  Therefore, the Fish & Wildlife Committee hereby reopens the 
Sturgeon catches in The Dalles Pool winter gillnet fishery have been better than
expected and the guideline is projected to be achieved.
Therefore the Fish and Widllife Committee hereby closes
The Fish & Wildlife Committee approves the commercial winter gillnet
fishery for Zone 6 of the Columbia River.  
The Dalles and John Days Pools open 6am Saturday February 1
The Fish & Wildlife Committee authorize smelt fishing in the Cowlitz River through 
March 2020.  Attached is the permit to be submitted to Raemelle for signature.
The Winter Fisher's Meeting will be held Friday January 31, 2020
from 10am to 4pm at Legends Casino

The YN Fish & Wildlife Committee authorizes a commercial setline fishery
for white sturgeon in all of Zone 6 of the Columbia River.
